I received both my Bachelor (2013) and Master (2015) degree in Chemistry from Eindhoven University of technology. My Master thesis was based on the development of the now established decoupled approach for mechanoluminescence in the group of Prof. dr. Rint Sijbesma. As my love for the subject grew I continued on this intriguing project during my PhD in my aim to develop novel mechanoluminescent systems which are based on a catalytic system where a single mechanochemical event leads to multiple chemiluminescent events and thus increasing the sensitivity for (weak) mechanochemical events even further beyond the current state of the art.
