Olivia Dittberner

“I completed my BSc in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry at Eindhoven University of Technology in 2021. For my graduation project, I worked in the group of Prof. Anja Palmans, where I explored the design of a pH probe for living cells by incorporating ratiometrically fluorescent dyes into single-chain polymeric nanoparticles (SCPNs).

I was awarded my MSc degree from the University of Groningen in early 2023. My thesis, supervised by Prof. Marleen Kamperman, focused on developing a material derived from the complex coacervation of hyaluronic acid and modified chitosan, suitable for use as a 3D printable bioink. During this time, I also briefly interned at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology in the group of Prof. Sarah E. O’Connor, where I worked on elucidating the biosynthetic pathway of ipecac alkaloids in two distantly related plant species (C.ipecacuanha and A.salviifolium).

Finally in January 2025, I returned to the Technical University of Eindhoven and joined the group of Prof. Rint Sijbesma as a PhD candidate, where I am currently working on the development of removable coatings from Dynamic Covalent Networks.”
