Roy Wink

I received my BSc degree in Chemical Engineering & Chemistry from the Eindhoven University of Technology in 2020 after performing my bachelor final project on the topic of ‘Molecular orbital visualization using advanced volumetric rendering methods’ under supervision of Dr. Ivo Filot. Afterwards, I started my masters in Chemical Engineering (Molecular Sciences and Material Chemistry track) at the same university, where I completed my MSc research in the group of Prof. Rint Sijbesma, on the subject of ‘RNA-inspired phosphate diester dynamic covalent networks’, under daily supervision of Soumabrata Majumdar. After a brief industrial internship at the Delrin manufacturing site of DuPont in Dordrecht, I returned to the Sijbesma group in October 2022 as a PhD candidate.

My project focusses on investigating force dependent kinetics (or catch bond behavior) in dynamic covalent networks. We try to translate this biophysical phenomenon into fully synthetic polymeric systems, and develop methods to prove these characteristics in bulk.
